PM Narendra Modi announced subsidised loans for building or expanding homes in rural India.
NEW DELHI:

 In a special televised speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced new schemes to provide subsidised housing for the urban and rural poor. "To help the middle class and the poor buy or build homes, the government has brought two schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana," PM Modi said.

Subsidised loans will be made available for building or expanding homes in rural India, he said. Low-interest loans will be made available to the urban poor, he shared.

Housing for the rural poor will be increased by 33 per cent, he announced.

For home loans of up to 9 lakhs, the poorest and the most underprivileged will get a four per cent interest benefit. For home loans of up to 12 lakhs, they will get a three per cent interest benefit.

In villages, those wanting to build or expand their homes will get loans of up to 2 lakh, with a three per cent interest relief.

PM Modi made several announcements during his speech, delivered in Hindi and English, on New Year's Eve. This is his second address to the nation since November 8, when he suddenly announced a ban on 500 and 1,000-rupee notes, which took away 86 per cent of the cash in circulation.

The Prime Minister said never before had so much cash been deposited in banks in such a short time, and urged banks to prioritise the poor, the middle class and the lower middle class.

"The government's priority is to ensure help and protection for the honest," PM Modi said.

The year 2016 saw some of the established heroines further strengthening their position as also the arrival of a few new glamour queens who saw instant stardom with their first films becoming blockbusters. Let’s check out some of the glamour queens who made it big during the year.
SAMANTHA RUTH PRABHU:
By all accounts Samantha had a fantastic 2016. She had 6 releases during the year – 3 in Tamil and 3 in Telugu. Almost all of them made it big time in overseas markets – crossing the US$ 1 Million mark. That established her as the queen of the overseas markets. In the domestic scene in Tollywood, her films “A..Aa” as well as “Janatha Garage” were super blockbusters at home and abroad. In Kollywood her movies “24” as well as “Theri” were blockbusters both in the domestic and overseas markets. She says that 2016 has been very important and both professionally and personally. She is slated to be married into the Akkineni family soon thanks to her long standing relationship with Nagachaithanya. She certainly has established herself firmly as the “Heroine of the Year”.
ANUPAMA PARAMESWARAN:
One of the new comers of 2016 Anupama lost no time in establishing herself strongly in Tollywood. This young damsel with an infectious smile first endeared herself to the Telugu audiences with “A..Aa” then she came before them once again in “Premam”. With the two films proving to be blockbusters, it was only a matter of time before she was spotted by top notch heroes which includes NTR for his next venture being directed by Bobby (KS Ravindra). The lady says she is happy with the responses she received during the year and that she did not expect the year to be so hectic. One looks forward to seeing more of her in the coming years.
NIVETHA THOMAS:
Nivetha Thomas is literally a one-film wonder. She acted as Nani’s heroine in “Gentleman” which was enough to endear herself to the audiences and the critics. She then bagged several offers and has become a very busy heroine now. The offers include one from NTR and Bobby for their upcoming yet untitled film. Saying that 2016 has been one of the best years of her life she did sound quite overwhelmed by the love and adulation she is now receiving from the Telugu audiences. We hope to see more of her in the years to come.

Trivikram who is currently busy for Pawan’s next movie produced by Radhakrishna under the banner of Haarika And Haasine Creations will be taking the responsibility to shelve the movie of NTR and Trivikram. Now the entire Tollywood is eyeing on this news that when will this combo go onto the sets. The movie unit has given an official statement that the movie will be gearing soon as the Pawan’s movie with Trivikram will be completed and the regular shoot will commence from September 2017 according to the movie sources. There were several rumours about the project that Balayya was to take up after finishing his 100th film, the magnum opus “Gautamiputra Satakarni”. He was said to have finalised a movie titled “Raithu” to be directed by Krishna Vamshi. The Big B, Amitabh Bachan himself was to do an important role in the film. Then we heard rumours that the movie is likely to be shelved. But now it is revealed that is not so.
It is learnt that as Amitabh Bachan had confirmed his participation in the project he had made it clear that he cannot offer the unit shooting dates until June 2017. This was received with a tad disappointment by the unit. However, since they felt that Amitabh Bachan alone can play that role they decided to wait for him to be free to act in this film. Now buzzing around Tollywood is the question what Balayya is going to do after he finishes Film #100 “Gautamiputra Satakarni” and before his Film #101 starts. We just have to wait and see.

Fans of rival heroes also become natural rivals. Their rivaly now has hit the social media also with the merits of their own idol vs the demerits of other heroes being a constant hot topic. This rivalry among fans further intensifies when a movie of one the heroes is released. Now we have two super stars of Tollywood releasing movies in January 2017 within a day of each other. Both the films are prestige issues for the respective stars and have naturally become prestige issue for the fans also.
Balayya’s “Gautamiputra Satakarni” is important to him because it is his 100th film and probably the biggest budget film he ever did. Chiranjeevi’s “Khaidi No 150” is important to him because it is his come-back vehicle as well as his 150th film. That is enough turf for war between the fans.
Now the latest bones of contention between the two warring factions are the hoarding and other outdoor ad-spots of the two massive releases. It is understood that the fans have gone to the extent of bringing pressure on the companies that manage the haordings in the twin cities as well as in other parts of the state. Each faction demands that the best spots be reserved for their own idol. The area surrounding Balayya’s residence is now full of ad-spots showing ads of “Khaidi No 150” ostensibly because the office of Konidela Productions is nearby. Are the fans going overboard now is the million dollar question.

Sai Dharam Tej’s ‘Winner’ First Look Posters Released

The first look posters of Sai Dharam Teja’s next film “Winner” have just hit the social media scene. One poster shows the hero striking a masculine pose in glasses looking grim and serious while the other shows him in a totally fun loving mood with the heroine of the film Rakul Preeth Singh in some woods. This only leads us to believe that this film could be an action-packed romantic entertainer.
With Sai Dharam Teja and Rakul Preeth Singh playing the lead pair the film also stars veteran Jagapathi Babu. Being directed by Gopichand Malineni it has music composed by S Thaman and Chota K Naidu wielding the camera. Nallamalupu Bujji is producing it under the banner Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions and the unit is planning to release it on 24th February 2017 after the Sankranti festival.

Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Oopiri movie had received a lot of applause from the Telugu audience as well from the critics. The clash between the movie director Vamsi and producer PVP has gone to the upper level.
PVP recently complained that Oopiri movie has left him in a huge loss and he was in a debt of Rs. 21 crores. This gave a sudden shock to the entire Tollywood industry. He seeks compensation for these losses from ‘Oopiri’ director Vamshi Pydipally. Pvp hasn’t stopped here. He approached Madras High Court and got injunction orders against Vamshi and his writers Harikrishna and Solomon to get them refrain from using Pvp’s script for Mahesh’s film.

Modi's New Year Speech: Thanks & New Schemes

Thanking all the Indians for braving the numerous challenges ever since his demonetization announcement on November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a string if new schemes for various sections of society.

In his anxiously awaited televised speech on the eve of New Year, Modi urged his countrymen to continue their support to his government in the fight against and black money corruption.

Modi then offered a slew of schemes to the poor, lower middle and middle classes in cities under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana like 4 percent discount on housing loans up to Rs.9 lakhs, loans of up to Rs.12 lakh.

Modi also declared that the government will bear 60 days' interest incurred on farmer loans and that the amount will be directly transferred to the farmers' bank accounts. Furthermore, 3 crore farmers' credit cards will be converted to RuPay cards in the next 3 months for ease of buying and selling at any time, Modi announced.

Raining sops on the small, medium and micro enterprises (SME) sector, Modi announced loans up to Rs.2 crore. For senior citizens, Modi has come up with a new scheme that assures an interest of 8% for 10 years on deposits up to Rs 7.5 lakh.

In a welcoming move to lower the pregnancy mortality rate, Modi announced that Rs.6,000 will be transferred into the accounts of pregnant women in 650 districts for vaccination and pre-natal care and diet and nutrition.

Modi also issued stern warnings to the various bank officers who were caught helping the corrupt and filthy rich and warned of strict action against dishonest people and said that his government is committed to bring the dishonest people onto the 'right track'.

Pawan Kalyan:

Pawan's 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' had staggering expectations riding on it. Despite no major attractions, just the name of Pawan helped the film to rake in 'Baahubali' scale pre-release business and openings.

The film that Pawan made for his fans however failed to impress even his ardent fans and remained one of the biggest disasters in the actor's career.

Mahesh Babu:

Superstar's script selection came under scanner after the disastrous performance of his only release of 2016, Brahmotsavam. After shaking the industry with Srimanthudu, none did expect that the star's next film would fail to recover at least half the investment.

NTR:

2016 can be termed as resurgence of NTR. The actor has topped every possible category this year. After impressing critics with his class acting in 'Nannaku Prematho', NTR showcased his box office potential with Janatha Garage. His two films together collected more than Rs 200 Cr gross worldwide.

Ram Charan:

Although Dhruva could leave the distributors with minor bruises, the action thriller is a game-changer for Charan. The film managed to answer the questions about Charan's acting potential, created a market for him in overseas and also done decent business in off-season and amidst demonetization affects.

Allu Arjun:

Bunny continued his summer success this year as well with Sarrainodu. Despite negative reviews, the mass entertainer managed to set the cash registers ringing and became the highest grosser of the actor and 2nd biggest hit of 2016.

Prabhas:

The macho actor didn't have a release this year but the Baahubali hoopla kept him in news on a regular basis.
